Our new government has been in place for one year now. During this time, we have dealt with a number of major issues at the national level: raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent of Canadians in order to introduce a middle-class tax cut, establishing the Canada Child Benefit, ratifying the Paris Agreement, creating a national plan for pricing carbon pollution, launching an inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, renewing the relationship between the federal government and our Aboriginal peoples, initiating negotiations on the softwood lumber agreement, and investing in infrastructure.
But what has occurred at a local level for the riding of Pontiac? Answer: significant new investments! Economic Development Canada, Canadian Heritage, Canada Summer Jobs and the Minister of Families have allocated nearly $6 million in funding to the Pontiac riding.
